Justice and I

It was a very few days before I left France for good in 2007, I received an email (all written in CAPITAL) from a friend telling me that Justice is going to give a free live show...in the empty factory 50 meter from where we used to live. Quite a surprising news indeed, my hood (poetically called "Belle de Mai" (May's Beauty)) is located in one of the poorest part of northern Marseille and usually, only some unknown ragga or rap singers come to sing over there (it has changed a little bit since a really famous serial drama called "Plus Belle La vie" is being shot in that factory and that numerous successful technology startup set up their office in the area)).

The only thing required to attend the show was to have a Myspace account (which I didn't, even though I'm a music+ social stuff junkie, I don't like Myspace's user experience) and we spent the whole afternoon to create dozen and dozen new account for all our friends interested to attend a huge party, where they finally won't be bounced at the entry (if you are black or Arabic in France, bouncers aren't your best friends). The funny stuff here is that tons of regular Myspace users came from all the cities circa (Montpellier, Nice, Monaco, Lyon) but couldn't enter just because we were already ALL inside, hours before the show actually starts.

If you read my blog or my tweet you already know that I LOVE electronic music, you can guess how thrilled I was to be able to hear (and watch!) an almost two hours live performed by Justice. If you want to know how the atmosphere was, just check that video :

Another surprise, at the end of the show, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay (Justice's member) simply came to see everyone to chat, drink, take pics and sign autograph. In June 2009, it was announced that Justice would be moving to WMG/Atlantic's newly relaunched Elektra Records label. They plans to release a new album in early 2010 and I'm really looking forward to listen to it!
